China’s exports to Uzbekistan record rapid increase

China's exports to Uzbekistan rose from $191.6 million in the first quarter of 2008 to $522.1 million in the same period of 2009, Uzreport reported on May 14. China now eclipses Russia’s exports to the country standing at $453.4 million in the first three months of 2009. Russian exports to Uzbekistan even declined by about 30 percent in the period under comparison. Russia remains Uzbekistan largest trading partner overall (import plus exports), making up 22.1% of Uzbekistan’s total trade volume but is closely followed by China (14.2%) and Switzerland (12.4%).
