Turkmen Leader Visits France Amid Criticism From Rights Groups

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov began an official visit to France on February 1, 2010 with a meeting with his French counterpart at the Elysee Palace. The talks with President Nicolas Sarkozy touched upon bilateral cooperation, relations between Turkmenistan and the European Union, Afghanistan, and the fight against drug trafficking. (RFE/RL)
